Our Story

Transforming Sanitation and Society: The Inspiring Story of WASHKING's Founder, Dieudonne Kwame Agudah

Growing up as a child of a single mother of three, Dieudonne found solace in reading philosophical books that challenged his thoughts and beliefs. As he delved deeper, he began to question what life was all about and what he should live for. It was then that he discovered a book called "Only One Earth," which opened his eyes to the possibility of pursuing human progress while taking care of the environment. This revelation changed the course of Dieudonne's life, and he pursued his passion through university programs and extracurricular activities.

After completing his second degree, Dieudonne decided to set up an NGO to empower young people to take action to protect their health and the environment. Despite some successes, funding was a constant challenge, so he pivoted to create a social enterprise called WASHKING, which provides low-income and underserved communities with access to safe and sustainable sanitation facilities at an affordable price.

WASHKING's name is derived from letters of impact areas: Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene, combined with "KING." Our goal is to become the leading responsible and inclusive sanitation services brand in developing countries. Our approach places the positive impacts of our work, tangible benefits, and the happiness of the people and communities we serve first.

We have set out to do more than provide sustainable sanitation facilities. It is about empowerment and accessibility, making people take charge of their own health and well-being and feel more valuable like a royalty. We believe that economic, social, and environmental well-being should be accessible for all, not just a select few. We understand that good hygiene enhances one’s status and wealth potential. We know that moving up in the world starts with knowing your worth and how you deserve to feel like royalty. We want people to own their thrones and feel like a king: WASHKING. As WASHKING scales up, we are/have rebranded to fully reflect these core values and identity.

Our growth trajectory focuses on serving social standing aspirations, including dignity of customers, providing seamless, personalized and excellent customer experience, and adopting circular product and service delivery to maximize and create additional value for customers and the environment.

We believe that everyone deserves access to safe and sustainable sanitation facilities, regardless of their economic status. As a social enterprise, we are committed to empowering and uplifting communities through responsible and inclusive business practices.

Join us on our mission to make a positive impact on the world, one sanitation facility at a time.
